Iraqi Delegation Visits Monash

A combined delegation of officials, academics and trainers from Iraq's Centre for Accounting and Finance (Ministry of Finance), the University of Baghdad, the Central Bank of Iraq and the Ministry of Higher Education visited Monash University, Department of Accounting and Finance, on Tuesday 13th October 2009 as part of an Australian Government, AusAID funded, training project.

With support from AusAID, the Ministry of Finance is embarking on a program to expose Iraq's accounting and finance educators to modern accounting and finance education, training and professional development programs in Australia.

The objective of the program is to increase the participant's knowledge of good practice approaches to accounting and finance education and training in order to inform the development of Iraq's accounting and finance education programs.

The program was managed by World Wide Project Management Services and Monash was one of only two Universities invited to host this program for the delegates.  Presentations were delivered by staff of the Department of Accounting and Finance, including the Head of Department, Professor Keryn Chalmers, Discipline Heads, Professor Madhu Veeraraghavan and Professor Farshid Navissi, Acting Discipline Head, Associate Professor David Smith and several other senior staff members.
