Associate Professor Grant Gay

Grant Gay is a specialist in the fields of auditing and financial accounting. He has extensive teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as conducting many executive training courses. A former audit and staff training partner with KPMG, Grant has extensive Australian and international audit experience. He has also spent time on secondment to the Australian Accounting Research Foundation and has authored and co-authored a number of articles in international and Australian refereed accounting journals. Grant is co-author of the leading auditing textbook Auditing and Assurance Services in Australia.

Grant is a former member of the National Education Committee of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and takes an active interest in their Professional Year program. He has both co-authored material for the program and conducted workshop sessions.

Grant has also been a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board and a member of the Audit and Assurance Centre of Excellence of CPA Australia. He is co-author of both the CPA modules Assurance Services and Auditing and Reporting and Professional Practice for CPA Australia.

Research: The audit expectation gap; audit reporting; internal control, audit risk and assurance framework; consolidations and accounting for company groups.
