Our researchBusiness and Economics research at Monash has the scale, capability and business links that influence national agendas and shape business and professional practice, within Australia and the region. With a team of outstanding academic staff and a high level of national research funding, we offer the highest quality research across an extraordinary range of disciplines. Strengths and expertiseOur great research strength is our ability to translate high level technical expertise into realistic business and professional contexts and to make a real difference to the many communities we serve. Our research expertise also translates directly into our teaching programs - ensuring all our disciplines lead the way in business education. World renownedWe have many specialist research centres and units, including the world renowned Centre of Policy Studies and the Centre for Health Economics. Substantial grants fundingThe Federal Government consistently recognises the faculty's commitment to excellence and innovation in research. In 2005, Business and Economics' academics received seven Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Grants and two Linkage Grants - totalling over $1.5 million. In 2004, two key research centres at Business and Economics won funding worth $3.5 million that will help to deliver the first sophisticated economic model of Australia's health sector. The Centre for Health Economics and the Centre of Policy Studies share the funding with the National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) at the University of Canberra. The research funding will be used to build a model that will enable policy-makers to 'road-test' initiatives and plans on paper, not on patients. |
