Professor Tam is Deputy Dean, International in the Faculty of Business and Economics. He has previously held academic and managerial positions at the University of New South Wales, the Treasury Department of the Australian Government and Philips Hong Kong. He has also held visiting positions in major Australian and overseas universities including the Australian National University, the University of California, Berkeley, Renmin University of China, University of Hong Kong, and the University of London. He has consulted for organisations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, UNESCO, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, ANZ Bank, Bankers Trust, People's Bank of China, Shanghai Economic Reform Bureau, Lend Lease Corporation, Rio Tinto Limited, and MLC. He is an independent director at the board of a financial institution. Professor Tam has extensive university teaching and PhD supervision experience both in Australia and overseas. As Deputy Dean International, he has played an active role in developing and implementing the Faculty's and the University's China strategy.
Research
Professor Tam has published many articles and several books on issues of monetary management, financial development, and corporate governance in the Asia Pacific region, with particular reference to China. His many research projects have been awarded major grants from key Australian and international bodies including the Australian Research Council and the Ford Foundation.
His research interests include corporate governance; Chinese business and management; financial and corporate development in Asia Pacific; and foreign direct investment and economic development. |
