Articulation of Monash College Students into Courses in the Faculty of Business and Economics policy

Purpose

This policy provides guidance and advice to applicants at the undergraduate level wishing to enrol in the Faculty of Business & Economics via Monash College.

Scope

This policy applies to all applicants at the undergraduate level.

Policy Statement

Monash College diploma students, whether international or Australian, are deemed by the Faculty of Business and Economics to be fee-paying students and accordingly relevant policies in relation to fee-liable students apply. The management and administration of these policies are the responsibility of the Faculty's Group Manager, Academic Services, or nominee; this is the Faculty's Manager, Admissions and Enrolments and accordingly any questions in relation to articulation requirements should in the first instance be directed to the Manager, Admissions and Enrolments.

Australian and International fee-paying Monash College students
Monash College students who pass the Monash College Diploma of Business (Business) or the Monash College Diploma of Business (Commerce) and who are full fee-paying Australian residents or full fee-paying international students may be offered a fee-paying place in the single or double degree programs of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Berwick, Peninsula, Gippsland, Clayton or Caulfield (other than the Bachelor of Accounting) if the following hurdle requirement upon successful completion of the Monash College Diploma of Business part 2 has been achieved:

Bachelor of Business and Commerce double degree – Berwick, Peninsula, Gippsland

70% average

Diploma of Business (Commerce)

Bachelor of Commerce single degree - Clayton

70% average

Bachelor of Commerce double degree – Clayton (Com/Arts, Com/Music)

75% average

Bachelor of Commerce double degree – Clayton (Com/Eng, Com/Info Tech, Com/Sci, Eco/Biomed)

80% average

When calculating entry requirements for students who have successfully completed a Monash College business or commerce diploma part 2, the calculation of the average shall include all unit attempts.  However, where a student has failed one or more units during their candidature the lowest fail mark will be excluded from the calculation.

Note: Admission is also dependent upon students meeting course pre-requisite requirements.

Change in fee status from local fee-paying to Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
Monash College diploma students who are Australian residents will be considered for a CSP on application for entry into a Faculty of Business and Economics course.  To be considered for a CSP at this stage the following averages must be achieved:

International students who obtain permanent resident status
International students who obtain permanent resident status after being admitted to a course of study in the Faculty of Business and Economics should refer to Faculty policy regarding change in undergraduate student status from international to permanent resident.

Note: this policy applies to all international students and not just students at Monash College.
