|

examination etc.
|
supplementary examination
|
is an examination that is granted to a student in accord with the
prescribed rules and conditions of the relevant Faculty Board (see.
Sections 4 of Examination Regulations.) It is intended to be
bestowed in predefined and determinable circumstances such as when
a candidate obtains a mark in a particular mark range or after certain
requirements have been satisfied,
(eg. when it is the last unit necessary to complete a graduate course of study, which has been undertaken in the last semester), provided that the student has completed
all the work for the unit, has sat the final examination and has
obtained a mark of at least forty per cent in the unit . |
|
|
usually referred to as a deferred examination, (see
section 4.5 of the Examination Regulations). Deferred examinations
are normally those held when a student is unable to sit the examination
at the scheduled time, although in certain circumstances, e.g. severe
illness or serious cause, a deferred examination may be granted
to a student who has sat all or part of the original examination.
Such examinations differ from supplementary examinations in that,
either having not sat for the exam or having sat all or part of
it and received a mark between 0 - 49, the student is able to satisfy
the Faculty that medical or other circumstances so severely affected
the performance in the examination that the student should be entitled
to another examination. This may also be applied in exceptional
circumstances when the student receives a mark between 50 - 79.
