Purpose

Scope
This policy applies to undergraduate international students within the Faculty. |
Policy Statement
Where an international student obtains permanent resident status after being admitted to a course of study in the Faculty of Business and Economics, the student will continue in the course as a local fee-paying student subject to the following conditions:
(i) The student may subsequently apply to transfer to a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) on the same basis as other Australian fee-paying students, ie, a place may be offered if the student has completed a minimum of 8 Monash University units (48 credit points), of which at least 6 units (36 credit points) must have been completed in the Faculty of Business and Economics, and must have achieved a minimum average mark of 65% in all the Faculty of Business and Economics units attempted (including fails), but this depends on when the resident status is obtained, as follows:
- a student who is granted resident status during first semester in any year will be granted an Australian full-fee place for second semester of that year and, if they wish to transfer to a CSP, must apply by the date required for internal transfers for consideration in the January selection period of the following year. Those who meet the faculty selection criteria will be made an offer to transfer to a CSP commencing from the beginning of semester one following the award offer; it does not apply to summer semester.
- a student who is granted resident status in second semester in any year and wishes to apply for a CSP must apply by the date required for internal transfers for consideration in the January selection period of the following year. Those who meet the faculty selection criteria will be made an offer to transfer to a CSP commencing from the beginning of semester one following the award offer; it does not apply to summer semester.
(ii) If the student is not successful in gaining a CSP the student will be granted an Australian full-fee place for the following academic year.
