Policy Statement
|
The Faculty of Business and Economics believes the granting of a Monash award recognises successful completion of a Monash degree program. However, it also recognises that students can enter a degree in the Faculty after completing some studies at another institution, in another faculty of the university, or from another degree family of the Business and Economics Faculty, and it is appropriate to recognise relevant prior study by granting advanced standing toward the Monash award. Furthermore, once enrolled in the Monash degree students are eligible to apply to study inter-faculty units, and units offered in other Business and Economics degree families. They may also apply for cross-institutional study through Monash Abroad and the approved complementary studies and last unit for degree policies.
To ensure that the degree awarded appropriately reflects the study undertaken:
1. For Undergraduate awards
The Faculty of Business and Economics requires that for the award of a single or double undergraduate degree students must have undertaken at least 8 units (48 credit points) from the degree family in which the degree is awarded, and a minimum of 12 units (72 credit points) from courses offered by Monash University. Approval may only be given for credits, exemptions, advanced standing, complementary study, study abroad, course completion units, and electives from other faculties and campuses where they do not exceed the total number allowed for study outside the degree family or University.
2. For Graduate awards
The Faculty of Business and Economics requires that for the award of a single or double graduate or post graduate degree students must have undertaken at least one third of the units from the prescribed course of study for the award, and a minimum of half of the units within the award must come from Monash University courses. Approval may only be given for credits, exemptions, advanced standing, complementary study, study abroad, course completion units, and electives from other faculties and campuses up to the allowed maximum.
