Policy development

Policy and strategic matters may come from an individual, a department, central administration and/or a committee. In all instances the matter should be referred to the Academic Governance Unit, who will arrange  appropriate consideration of the matter within the faculty. Usually this will involve referral to a committee.

If a policy or strategic matter arises unexpectedly at a committee meeting, it is quite appropriate that the committee discuss the matter, but any new or amended policies/strategies should be referred to the Senior Executive Officer, Academic Governance Unit. This will be done as part of the action arising from the committee meeting.

Staff are encouraged to use the Policy Proposal template for proposed new policies and amendment to exisiting policies.
