Near Pass - undergraduates only
Near pass for last unit for undergraduate degree
Students enrolled in undergraduate courses managed by the Faculty of Business and Economics who fail a unit with a mark between 45% and 49%, which is confirmed to be the last unit necessary to complete a course of study, will be given a Near Pass (NP) in that unit provided that they have completed all the work for the unit, and have sat the final examination.
This grade cannot be granted until all outstanding grades have been converted to marks, and it is confirmed that it is the only unit required for course completion.
Students enrolled in a double degree will be eligible for a Near Pass only for the unit confirmed as the last unit required for course completion in the double degree.
Honours and postgraduate students are not entitled to receive a Near Pass.
In accordance with the University's Credit Transfer policy, units with NP grades may not be counted for credit transfer purposes if a student transfers courses.
Students wishing to receive professional accreditation are advised to contact the relevant accreditation body to determine the status of Near Pass (NP) grades.
Students who have work disallowed in a unit due to academic misconduct are not entitled to a Near Pass in that unit.
Policy transition arrangements
All students enrolled up to and including 2007 may continue to operate under the previous Near Pass policy provisions up to the end of 2009.
The new policy is to be introduced in 2008 and will apply to all commencing students from 2008 and to all students from 2010.
