Faculty Recognition of Excellence policy

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish a Faculty policy on recognition of excellence in alignment with the overarching University recognition of excellence policy.

Scope

All students enrolled in the following courses managed by the Faculty of Business and Economics are eligible for the programs developed as a result of this policy:

  • Each undergraduate degree family (including related double degrees). This includes any double degrees not managed by the Faculty of Business and Economics;
  • Masters coursework degrees.

Policy Statement

4.1 Dean's Honour List

There shall be a Dean’s Honour List for recognising students’ academic excellence across the Faculty.

The criteria shall be the top two percent (2%) of completing students in each undergraduate degree family and the top 2% of completing students across all Masters coursework degrees.

Students in this category will receive a certificate stating that they have been placed on the Dean’s Honour List.

The Faculty shall select from the Dean’s Honour List the nominees for university prizes as stated in the University’s Recognition of Excellence policy.

4.2 Dean’s Commendation List

There shall be a Dean’s Commendation List for recognising students’ academic excellence across the Faculty.

The criteria shall be the top five percent (5%) of completing students in each undergraduate degree family and the top 5% of completing students across all Masters coursework degrees.

Students in this category will receive a certificate stating that they have been placed on the Dean’s Commendation List.

4.3 Business and Economics Future Leaders Program

There shall be a Business and Economics Future Leaders Program that would recognise academic achievement for Business and Economics students while at Monash and develop skills demanded by employers.

The criteria for an invitation to participate in the program shall be the completion of three semesters, including at least four Business and Economics units, on the basis of results achieved at Monash using the same formula as the Dean’s Honour List.

The program shall also provide for extra activities for high achieving students over their last year in an undergraduate program.
