Student Representation on Faculty Committees

The Faculty is committed to improving the student learning experience. One of the ways the Faculty does this is through having student representation on the Faculty's committees. This representation provides students with an opportunity to be part of the formal governance of the Faculty. The aim of the student representatives is to be a voice for all Faculty students. To facilitate this representation we have listed below the 2009 student representatives below along with information about the committee(s) on which they serve.

Faculty Board

Faculty Board is responsible for the management and control of all matters relating to programs of study within the Faculty’s academic fields of interest and expertise. As such, Faculty Board advises the University’s Academic Board on curriculum development within the Faculty, matters related to teaching and learning, developments in academic policy, and key strategic and academic initiatives.  Information about the board

Education Committee

The Education Committee considers matters of strategic academic importance in order to inform and enhance the Faculty's learning and teaching contribution to the University. Matters for consideration relate to strategic and operational planning, academic standards, academic policy, the initial strategic implications of new course proposals, course and unit reviews, and the establishment and administration of scholarships.  Information about the committee

Research Degrees Committee

The Research Degrees Committee is responsible for research degrees program management, policy, and administration across the Faculty. The Committee provides advice to the University Research Graduate School Committee on new and amended research degree regulations, policies and procedures concerning research studies, scholarships, and on the eligibility of candidates to enrol for research degrees.  Information about the committee

Equity and Diversity Committee

The Equity and Diversity Committee is responsible for advising Faculty Board, on all academic matters arising from the University's equity and diversity policies, strategies and programs designed to provide equal opportunity in education, in particular policy, objectives and programs concerning all equity, access and affirmative action matters which may affect students within the Faculty. Information about the committee
