BLT External Advisory Committee

Terms of Reference

The BLT External Advisory Committee is made up of five internal members, who are senior academic staff within BLT and fifteen external members, who are distinguished representatives from the legal, tax and accounting professions, government and regulatory bodies, and other leading members of the business community. The Committee will meet four times per year.

The central objective of the BLT External Advisory Committee is to provide expert guidance and support to BLT in its teaching and research activities. This will assist BLT in meeting its two main aims:

  • to deliver the highest quality tertiary education in business law and taxation to the business community, government and to the professions, both domestically and internationally; and
  • to conduct well-founded and rigorous research of international and domestic importance.

External Advisory Committee will advise the Department on:

  1. the content and appropriateness of BLT's course offerings for students, to ensure that our courses maintain cutting-edge relevance to the changing education needs of the world in which our graduates are employed;

  2. BLT's overall research strategy, specific research project proposals, and ways in which we can maximise the opportunities for collaborative research linkages with government, industry and professional bodies;

  3. current and prospective developments in legal, tax, accounting and business practice, to ensure that BLT's teaching and research activities address those developments on an ongoing basis.
