Experience of regulatory reform in Australia

Dr Brendan Sweeney organised a seminar for a group of government researchers from the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), a division of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

CIEM is one of Vietnam’s leading regulatory research bodies and it has drafted most of the significant commercial laws since doi moi (renovation) reforms commenced twenty years ago. The group was led by Mr Dinh Van An, President of CIEM, and was accompanied by Mr Bob Warner from the Centre for International Economics and Mr Nguyen Quang Anh from AusAID.       

The group was visiting to learn about the "experience of regulatory reform in Australia, especially,
cutting down red tape and improving performance of public servants".
