Graduate Student Workshop

APBRG co-hosted a Graduate Student Workshop with the Melbourne Law School, Melbourne University on 9 April, 2008. Associate Professor Pip Nicholson (Melbourne University) and Professor John Gillespie (Director APBRG) presented papers dealing with theoretical and methodological problems with researching law in Asia. Six PhD students presented papers explaining how they used theory to frame their research questions. Le Ngoc, a PhD candidate from the Department of Business Law and Taxation presented a paper on ‘Vietnam’s official discourse towards the WTO accession commitments’.

Nguyen Hung Quang, a visiting scholar with the APBRG, presented a paper about interpreting quantitative research in legal projects.
