Research and publications in Business Law and Taxation

The Department undertakes rigorous legal research of international and domestic importance. It has significant research strengths in the areas of:

• banking, consumer and commercial law
• corporate law and corporate social responsibility
• taxation law and policy
• workplace and industrial relations law, and
• comparative business law, with a particular focus on the Asian region.

The Department’s research strategy, as set out in the Research Strategic Plan 2007-2009 (doc, ~128kb), is focused upon:

• collaborative research, fostered primarily through three significant research concentrations: the Asia-Pacific Business Regulation Group, the Workplace and Corporate Law Research Group, and the Taxation Law and Policy Research Institute
• external engagement, by forming research linkages with government, industry and professional bodies
• increasing the levels of external research funding, through contract research and national competitive grant applications
• attracting high quality research Doctoral/Masters by research students.
