Dr George Gilligan

George joined the department as a Logan research fellow in 1998, and became a senior research fellow in 2005. Logan fellowships were open to international competition and were highly regarded.

George has taught at the universities of Cambridge, Exeter, La Trobe, Middlesex and Melbourne.

He returned to Australia from the UK in late 1997 and spent 1998 as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Corporate Law and Securities Regulation in the Law School at the University of Melbourne.

George’s research centres on regulatory theory and practice, especially in relation to the financial services sector; white-collar crime; organised crime; and corruption. He has published extensively in these areas and conducted numerous field research projects examining the praxis of regulation.
