Haemala joined Monash University Malaysia as a lecturer in law in 2001.
Before joining Monash University Malaysia, Haemala was a lecturer with
the Department of Law at the HELP Institute, Kuala Lumpur, teaching in
the United Kingdom Transfer Program with Cardiff University and the University
of the West of England, Bristol.
Before moving to an academic career, Haemala had spent five years in
legal practice, providing legal advice, drafting, conveyancing and handling
civil litigation matters.
Teaching
Haemala teaches malaysian taxation law and international trade law.
Research
Her principal research interest is in insurance law and in particular,
the interests of consumers/insureds in non-marine insurance. Other areas
of interest include alternative dispute resolution and international trade
law.
