Michael was appointed in 2004 as assistant lecturer, having commenced as a sessional staff member two years earlier. Before joining Monash, Michael had practised as a solicitor for 10 years in the environment field with the Victorian Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and with the Victorian and North Queensland Environment Defenders Office (EDO).
In 1997 Michael began teaching environmental and tourism law at several universities and TAFE colleges.
Research
Following on from his masters degree in environmental management, Michael has a particular interest in ecotourism and corporate opportunities for nature conservation.
