A lecturer of business law units at the Monash South Africa campus, Nazreen has also taught at the University of Natal, University of Transkei and the University of Stellenbosch. She joined the department in 2003, having been senior legal adviser to the National Department of Housing.
Nazreen was awarded the Bradlow Fellowship for Human Rights, which gave her the opportunity to study at the University of Notre Dame, after which she joined the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. She is maintaining her interest in human rights and is working towards doctoral studies in international humanitarian law.
Nazreen was nominated and reappointed by the Cabinet member of the Audit Committee for Mpululanga Province 2005, nominated and appointed by the Cabinet deputy chairperson of the North West Province Rental Housing Tribunal 2005, and was nominated and accepted on the Gender Equality Commission of South Africa 2005–2006.
