Graduate Diploma in TaxationCRICOS code: 043559EThe graduate diploma comprises 6 units that can be completed in one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study. Students also have the option of undertaking a Research Report weighted at 12 points, a Research Project weighted at either 6 or 12 points, or a Minor Thesis equivalent to 24 points. Enrolment in a Research Report, Research Project or Minor Thesis requires approval from the Course Director. Course Objectives The aim of the Graduate Diploma in Taxation course is to provide a detailed understanding of the concepts and practical application of Australian taxation law appropriate for students wishing to practise in the areas of accounting, law and financial management and those who are current practitioners in these areas who require a comprehensive refresher course. It is also appropriate for students who regularly deal with taxation issues in the normal course of their employment or business dealings. Admission requirements A pass degree in any discipline or an equivalent qualification and, usually, relevant employment experience or a credit average in an Executive Certificate or Graduate Certificate in the relevant discipline. Applications for this degree are no longer being accepted. This degree is in the process of being taught out and is to be disestablished at the end of Semester 2, 2010.
