This presentation gives an insight into the approach taken by the Corporate Law Reform Committee (CLRC) in its process of modernising corporate law in Malaysia. It highlights the role of corporate law reforms in other jurisdiction such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong in providing important benchmarks in determining changes and responses to corporate law reform in Malaysia. It also discusses legal issues arising from the documents which have been issued for public consultation.
Research profileDr Bidin areas of specialisation include company and corporate finance law, securities regulation, bankruptcy and insolvency law. She has completed various research projects for the university, public and private sectors, including projects on corporate financing in Malaysia, governance and reform of the insolvency regime in Malaysia and a Study on the Syariah corporate tax, its distribution, application and impact on individuals and companies in Malaysia. Dr Bidin is a member of the Steering Committee of the Malaysian Corporate Law Reform Committee and is currently a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Business Law and Taxation.
