BLT participants: Alice de Jonge, Wayne Gumley, Ashraf Kazi, Toan Le, Dr Janine Pascoe, Shanthy Rachagan, Chenxia Shi, Professor Paul von Nessen

Outline

Researchers in this area are examining various aspects of the inter-relationship between national and international systems of corporate regulation; and comparing particular aspects of corporate regulation across jurisdictions, eg:

  • Alice de Jonge’s work exploring recent reforms (largely as a result of the US Sarbanes-Oxley influence) in directors duties under Hong Kong law and mainland Chinese law; and proposal for a case study of a mainland company listed on both the Hong Kong and New York Stock Exchanges, to identify duties imposed under US law on directors of overseas companies listed in NY, including a comparative analysis of the Australian situation
  • Chenxia Shi’s work on the impact of WTO entry on China’s approach to corporate governance
  • Dr Janine Pascoe and Shanthy Rachagan are working on Malaysian corporate governance issues
  • Toan Le is interested in the Vietnamese corporate governance system
  • Professor Richard Cullen has considerable expertise in relation to Hong Kong/China
  • Ashraf Kazi is carrying out research comparing the Chinese and Malaysian corporate law systems
