The determinants of health in Australia: an economic framework with public health implications

Synopsis

This program aims to investigate which factors are important in determining the health of individuals in Australia . Outside specific medical interventions many factors affect individual health, including age, sex, race, region of residence, income and lifestyle choices. These factors affect the way that individuals “produce health”. Economics investigations of this kind have not been conducted with Australian data and their practical application to public health problems have not been investigated.
