Profile: Jenny Watts is a Senior Lecturer in the Centre for Health Economics and is the Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma in Health Economics and Policy and the Graduate Certificate in Health Economics courses. She has worked as a health economist for the past 10 years, building on her earlier career as a senior intensive care nurse and nurse educator. Jenny's research interests include measuring hospital efficiency in the acute care sector, hospital clinical costing systems, payment policy in the acute care sector and health care technology assessment. She recently completed an analysis of national hospital cost data collections for use in efficiency comparison and performance reporting, and the impact of age on hospital length of stay at the DRG level. Current research includes analysis into the existence of economies of scale at the DRG level, alternative funding models for chronic disease and influences on the supply and demand of medical services.
