Dr Munir Khan

Profile:

Munir Khan is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics. He has a PhD in Economic Geography from the University of Melbourne. He is currently working as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Health Economics (CHE) on Quality of Life (QOL) project under the supervision of Prof. Jeff Richardson, founding Director of the Centre for Health Economics. Before joining to the Centre, Dr. Khan has worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Rural Health and Data Analyst in the University Planning Office at the University of Melbourne. He also worked as a researcher at Victoria University and has tutored in Strategic Management at Monash University. Before migrated to Australia in 1992 Dr. Khan has worked at the University of Dhaka as an academic for several years. He has extensive experience in undertaking research in wide areas of topics including health and wellbeing of rural people, obstetrics outcome of Victorian indigenous people, prevalence of adult obesity in rural communities, recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural Victoria, consumers’ perspective of GP’s undertaking research, students’ interest in rural health careers and students attitudes towards mental health. He has also conducted research on social and economic conditions of disadvantage people, spatial pattern of income inequality in South Australia and labour market outcomes of South Asian migrants in Australian labour market. In his academic career, Dr. Khan has published some of his research work in national and international Journals.
