Profile:

Associate Professor Anthony Harris is Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Economics  with responsibility for teaching. The Monash University health economics research degree program, double degree in economics and biomedical science, industry cadetship and scholarship programs, and the off campus flexible learning courses represent the most comprehensive set of programs in health economics anywhere in the world.

Anthony has held teaching and research positions at the University of Aberdeen, University of Western Australia and Murdoch University and has over 50 refereed articles and book chapters, with 30 in health economics, and the rest in other quantitative areas of economics.

He has been closely involved in the application of health economics to health technology assessment and in collaboration with the Monash Institute of Health Services Research currently runs a multidisciplinary health technology research team at Monash University . He has been closely involved in health services decision making as member of the Economics Sub-committee of the PBAC, and member of government review committees in the areas of diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology.

Other research interests include the econometric modeling of health care systems on which CHE was awarded a 5 year national program grant in 2005.
