Statistical Consulting for Monash Research Students
Free statistical consulting service for Monash research students
If you are a research student at Monash University you may be eligible to
use our free statistical consulting service. We provide the service for students
in the Faculties of Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Law, and Art
and Design. The Department of Mathematics
and Statistics provide a complementary service for students from the Faculties
of Science, Medicine, Engineering, Information Technology and Pharmacy.
- To be eligible you must have more than 50% research component to your
degree.
- Eligible students can receive up to 10 hours of free statistical help.
- If more than 10 hours of assistance is required, we offer a discounted
service for Monash students.
- We won't write your thesis for you, but we can help you to plan your
data collection, analyse your data, interpret your statistical analysis,
present your statistical results, and use a statistical package on a computer.
- If you are planning a survey or some other data collection, please come
and see us before you actually collect any data. We can
help in ensuring you avoid common traps which can lead to sampling and response
bias.
- A series of workshops in statistical methodology
are offered free-of-charge for Monash research students. These are conducted
by the Econometrics and Business Statistics Consulting Service in conjunction
with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and cover a range of
topics from the quite basic to the reasonably advanced.
