Master of Applied Econometrics (M.App.Econometrics)

The Master of Applied Econometrics is offered by Econometrics and Business Statistics at Caulfield as a coursework plus minor thesis degree aiming to provide students with the skills and research experience required for applied econometric projects in business and finance.

This unique and academically challenging program provides the breadth of knowledge and quantitative expertise to be involved in business analysis, forecasting, financial market analysis, risk analysis and quantitative market research. Students acquire specialised skills to undertake applied econometric research projects and the ability to communicate the results to wider audiences. These skills are extremely attractive to business and can be used across the broad range of business disciplines whether you are in the field of market research, quality improvement, credit risk management or international business.

For those interested in further study the Master of Applied Econometrics also provides a clear pathway to articulate into higher-degree by research programs.

Length of course: Three semesters full-time; six semesters part-time. A total of 72 credit points is required for completion.

Admission requirements: A degree from a recognised tertiary institution that includes some quantitative studies with an average of credit or above, or the Graduate Diploma in Applied Econometrics or equivalent.

Credit provision: Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Applied Econometrics or equivalent with an average grade of credit or above may apply for credit exemptions for up to 50% of the value of the masters program depending upon the units that have been studied in the Graduate Diploma in Applied Econometrics or in other graduate programs.
