Paul completed his PhD in 2008 at the University of Innsbruck Austria. He joined the department in 2009 after a research visit at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests are in the fields of political economy, environmental economics, insurance economics and development economics with a focus on natural hazards.
