| Cross-Institutional Enrolment / Complementary Studies policy | |||
| Purpose |
This policy is to provide guidance to staff and students on the availability of and processes for administering cross-institutional enrolment and complementary studies within the Faculty. |
||
| Scope | This policy applies to all undergraduate students enrolled in programs managed by the Faculty. | ||
| Policy Statement |
Cross-institutional enrolment occurs when a student is enrolled for an award program at Monash, but wishes to enrol in a unit(s) at another institution and have the unit(s) credited towards the Monash award program. For students in the Faculty of Business and Economics this process is managed: 1. via the complementary study process; 2. through the Monash Study Abroad Program; 3. via degree regulations that allow students to complete the last unit(s) toward their degree at another institution. Units undertaken at another institution must enhance the nature of the student's Monash degree. Units taken prior to commencement of the Monash degree do not come under this category but are covered by Advanced Standing. Students will normally only be given approval to study units judged to be equivalent in standard to those offered in their degree program. The Monash University Course Structure Policy (see ‘Course Flexibility’) requires students enrolled at Monash who intend to study a unit at another institution for which they intend to seek credit at Monash to seek permission prior to enrolling in that unit. Undergraduate students in the Faculty of Business and Economics wishing to undertake complementary studies at another institution must submit to the faculty the appropriate form. The course director or course co-ordinator and the other institution must approve the application prior to enrolment. Undergraduate students will not be given approval to take units solely for the purpose of accelerated course progression nor can they replicate units available at Monash, or substitute for Monash units. Graduate students are encouraged to undertake units which will enhance their Monash award and may, with the course director's prior approval, take units for the purposes of accelerated course progression. No student may receive credit for any units undertaken during a period of deferment, intermission, or suspension from their degree. |
