Celebration of Excellence Dinner 2008 - Department of Management
The Department of Management’s Highest Achieving Students
Of the 36 prize and award winners at this year’s Celebration of Excellence dinner, 16 were past or present graduate students. The dinner was held on Monday 2 June 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.
Two of these students won prizes in more than one category.
Stephanie Vickers won the highest achieving overall Masters prize sponsored by the Grand Hyatt Melbourne, and the prize for the highest achieving student in the Master of Management sponsored by Robert Bosch (Australia). Stephanie is a partner in the Encore Group, an international consulting firm that specialises in financial services. She has become a practice management specialist, having developed a raft of intellectual property on effectively managing financial planning practices, and consulted with practices, dealer groups and financial institutions.
Stephanie says that management consulting is her passion, and her studies in the Master of Management have enabled her to pursue this vocation in greater depth and efficacy.
Stephanie was the top graduating student in the Graduate Diploma in Management in 2002. Her first degree is in Chemical Engineering (Monash).

Zubin Nawaz shared the ANZ prize for the highest achieving student in the Master of HRM, and was also the highest achieving student in MGX5220 Managing work, family, life sponsored by the Work/Life Association Inc (Vic). She is currently engaged as a Financial Accountant with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) in Geneva.
In addition to holding a Master of Human Resource Management, she is an Associate Chartered Management Accountant. Having worked predominantly in Budget, Finance and Accounting, Zubin is presently working on a part time basis with the Human Resources Section of UN-OCHA on a project to improve and stream-line the HR processes of the Organization.
Zubin was one of six prize winners who now live, work or study overseas and were unable to attend the ceremony. Others are in London, Prato, Prague, Korea and Berlin.

This year the Department welcomed 2 new sponsors to the event: Robert Bosch (Australia) P/L State Services Authority (Victorian Government) The evening was opened by the Department of Management’s newly appointed Head of Department, Professor Ian McLoughlin, and chaired by Mary Anderson, Director of Education.
