Graduate Certificate in Commercialising Research
Monash University GSB offers a four unit graduate certificate for those students currently pursuing higher degrees by research who wish to develop or enhance their skills and knowledge in how to commercialise their research.
The following areas will be covered in the course:
- The commercialisation processes and activities commonly employed to bring research based ideas, inventions and innovations to the market,
- Intellectual property management,
- Interpersonal skills relevant to research commercialisation activities including leadership, teamwork and presentation skills,
- An elective from a range of technical commercialisation areas including marketing and accounting and finance.
Delivery will be on campus at Caulfield and will be offered each semester in full time or part time mode. Units may be delivered through weekly classes or intensively. Discussions, simulations, tutorials, industry visits and talks with industry specialists are some of the methods used in this course.
The 24-credit point program will consist of four units each of six points.
Scholarships
Commonwealth Government funded scholarships are available in 2008 for semester 1 and 2 for students under the Commercialising Training Scheme (CTS). These scholarships cover all tuition fees for the course and may include a living allowance or stipend scholarship for eligible awardees.
Applicants wishing to maintain their HDR enrolment and undertake the course part-time (one unit per semester over two years) will be considered.
Applications
For CTS award applicants:
Application forms for the CTS award are downloadable from the MRGS website.
A separate application form for the course is not required for students applying for a CTS award.
Please note scholarship applications for semester 2, 2008 close in May (actual date to be confirmed, please contact MRGS for further details).
For non-CTS award applicants:
Students not applying for the CTS award need to complete a Monash application form.
Closing date for applications for semester 2, 2008 is Friday 13 June 2008.
