Executive Certificate in Business

As of semester 1, 2008 Monash GSB will offer a single executive certificate - the Executive Certificate in Business. Pathways to various masters programs will be available in the new structure, and are outlined below.

The Executive Certificate in Business is a Monash award designed as an entry point for students who do not have an undergraduate degree. The Executive Certificate enables students, who have secured a credit average, to go on and complete a masters program.

Through the Executive Certificate in Business you can expect to:

  • develop analytical skills in a business discipline of your choice
  • introduce relevant theories which can be applied to real world issues
  • enhance your oral and written presentation skills
  • provide the foundation for ongoing studies in business.

The course can be completed in one semester full-time and two semesters part-time. It is flexible and can be undertaken on-campus at Caulfield or off-campus.

Entry requirements for executive certificates:

  • at least 6 years business experience, and
  • been either an owner manager or in a management/supervisor position or
  • administered expenditure in excess of $500,000pa for at least three years, and
  • are recommended by their employer, or if self-employed, provide suitable references.

Course structure:

Students can choose units from different departments or from the same department, provided they have met the normal prerequisite requirements for each unit. Students must complete four units (24 points) from any of the 9000-level units in the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Planning ahead for your Masters degree:

You may wish to structure your executive certificate so that it relates to your planned masters degree.
