Research and publications in Management

Research strategy

The core aims of our research strategy are to:

  • create a culture that values, encourages and supports excellence in researchers and research outcomes
  • develop the research culture through an appropriate mix of short and long term initiatives
  • consistently reinforce the links among research, teaching and practice
  • increase the number and quality of HDR students and ensure that they contribute to our research strengths.

The department recognises the following major challenges in producing quality research outcomes:

  • recruiting of high quality researchers with a proven track record who have the potential to win competitive grants and publish in major international journals
  • improving success in competitive research grants, including the Australian Research Council (ARC) schemes and industry sources
  • supporting and encouraging high quality publications
  • facilitating the role of senior staff to foster scholarships in the department
  • providing comprehensive research support structures and resources.

Commitment to research

Research by scholars in the department is widely published in leading national and international journals including Academy of Management Review, British Journal of Industrial Relations, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Economic Issues, Journal of Management Studies and the Journal of International Business.
