Chief Investigators and Industry Partner Investigators

Monash University Investigators

The chief investigators have worldwide recognised expertise in creating and applying decision support models in different fields. In particular:

Associate Professor Petrovic-Lazarevic has an international reputation in the field of development of models based on fuzzy logic, neural networks and evolutionary computation to support business management decision-making processes.

Associate Professor Yeh has outstanding achievements in the methodological developments of novel intelligent models, effective and efficient fuzzy programming using multi-criteria analysis, computational intelligence and optimisation modelling techniques.

Dr Coghill has initiated the innovative application of modelling and computing of anticipatory systems to redress the limited capacity of conventional policy analysis methods to discriminate between the effects of individual policy instruments when used in combination.

Sue Bedingfield’s current research is in the development of adaptive evolutionary algorithms for generating rule sets from large complex databases.

The Cancer Council of Victoria Principal Investigators

The lead researcher from The Cancer Council of Victoria is Professor Ron Borland. He is one of the Chief Investigators for the International Tobacco Control Survey study, and is the Principal Investigator for Australia.

Central to The Cancer Council of Victoria contribution is Research Fellow David Young, whose work focuses on the relationship between research and practice, and who has a particular interest in Actor-Network Theory and non-linear dynamics.
