Description:
|
Long term policy issues and administration affecting the public interest, such as climate change, raise major concerns about how parliaments and governments are held to account. Beyond the crude, blunt instrument of elections, what principles and practices can ensure that longer term and inter-generational interests predominate over the usual media and electoral political cycles?
You will explore these concerns with leading legal and political thinkers and consider the potential application of principles of fiduciary duty and public trust to improve accountability for policy on climate change and other long-term issues.
