Maximising the Effectiveness of Public Health Policies: The Case of Smoke-Free Policies

International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project
Transdisiplinary Tobacco Use Research Center at Roswell Park

Summary

The link between research, policy development and the effects of those policies is of critical national and global importance from social, political and economic perspectives. This project will provide new insights into how to maximise the effectiveness of Public Health policies. It will use a unique combination of theoretical frameworks, survey data and expert judgements to develop innovative models of the relationship between research knowledge, current policies and subsequent outcomes for smoke-free policies, aimed at reducing the risk from environmental tobacco smoke. Modelling will be both descriptive and predictive, thereby producing a robust outcome, capable of generalised application.

The project is associated with the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project.
