Nature of Research at MGRU

Governance is multi-dimensional and is applicable to all social systems and organisations, from global institutions to isolated communities. Virtually no human social organisation or institution is autonomous. Each is dependent on others for many goods and services. Interconnection is being extended by globalisation.

MGRU research addresses governance at all levels from the global to the most local. Whether at the level of the firm, the nation, or the multilateral regulatory agency, governance has many elements in common. Poor governance affects economic outcomes, business performance, international trade, social development, equity and political stability and thus is a key element of business and economics.

The MGRU has links to, and collaborates with, other Faculties conducting related research.  By bringing together research scholars who individually have contributed in diverse fields, each informs the other regarding subtle but profoundly important aspects of governance such as values, performance, efficiency, culture, business ethics and civic engagement. By so doing, the research activity at MGRU clarifies what is unique to each of these levels of governance, what is common, and how each interacts with the other
