Associate Professor the Honourable Dr Ken Coghill
Dr Coghill conducts research into capacity building and professional development programs for parliamentarians and local government councillors. He leads the ARC Linkage project Parliamentary Careers: Design, Delivery and Evaluation of Improved Professional Development (ARC number LP0989714). AusAID & the Inter-Parliamentary Union are the partners.
He is Director, Monash Governance Research Unit and Co-Director, Parliamentary Studies Unit (with Associate Professor Colleen Lewis).
Dr Coghill teaches Governance and Business & Government in Masters Programs and supervises PhD research students studying governance.
His PhD was a study of ministerial responsibility and accountability in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia during the late 1980s-early 1990s.
He was born at Mansfield, Victoria, Australia in 1944, qualified as a veterinary surgeon, worked as a Victorian public servant, and served as a Councillor, a Member of the Victorian Parliament and Parliamentary Speaker before joining Monash University.
