Project Officer, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor International, Monash University
Diplomacy and Trade

I have always been interested in international affairs and wanted to get involved in the field. I was looking for a course that was different from the stock 'international business' courses out there. I also wanted something with a lot of flexibility for me to study the areas that I was interested in. I found the Monash course to have both. I also wanted to take on the challenge of studying while living in Japan, proving that I could “do it alone”.

Studying the masters in this way has developed great research skills and confidence that I can work around problems with minimal assistance.

In my current role, I need to be aware of a range of issues all relating to my studies. I research the areas in which Monash engages in international collaborative activities. One day I might be researching the international education strategy of the Japanese government, and the next hosting a visit from an Indian scientist/venture capitalist. The position matches the degree perfectly. Without the background my studies have provided, I would most likely not be here.
