The normal distribution

Use this statistical applet to explore the normal distribution.

There are two parameters for a normal distribution, the mean, μ, and the standard deviation, σ. In this applet μ can take any value between 30 and 70 and σ can take any value between 5 and 15.

The area between the vertical lines a and b is also calculated. z₁ and z₂ give the distance of these lines from the mean in units of σ. In this applet z₁ and z₂ can take any value between -3 and 3.
