Weekend in Beijing

After farewelling family and friends in Melbourne, we set off on our China adventure.

The flights all went well, and our Manage China team Joanna and Tim were there to welcome us when we arrived, along with early arrivers Jamie, David and Tim. We stayed in a traditional Chinese hutong which was in a great location and we all acclimatised very well.

The group was keen to explore the local environs, and for several this included massage and pedicures, some great local food, oh and a spot of shopping!

On Sunday we headed off to Tian'anmen Square and the Palace Museum both of which had a great impact on all of us. Next we were off to the Great Wall, with a stop for lunch on the way through at a fish restaurant where we had the chance to catch our own lunch! Joanna and Sandra showed the lads how it was done!!

After a great feed, we were back on the road. Despite low visibility we were all very excited to be at the Great Wall!! Most of us took the cable car up to the wall, but 3 intrepid trekkers; Jo, Sam and Salil opted to walk up. After a big walk along the wall and back down to the bus we hit the road again and even had time to stop to check out the new Olympic stadiums - how amazing they look.

How could the day get any better?? Well, with a beautiful dinner of Peking Duck at one of the most famous Peking duck restaurants in Beijing. We all thought it was fantastic.

Finally, it was time to head for home to prepare for the first day of company visits.
