Monash Marketing China Study Program 2008Who can go?The Marketing Study Program to China is open to all Monash postgraduate business (MBA, Masters, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate) students. At this stage, undergraduate students are not eligible for the program. Acceptance to participate in the Program is not automatic. Usually we receive many more expressions of interest and applications than we are able to accommodate. Selection is determined by the Co-Directors and is based on specific criteria such as stage of course progression, number of marketing subjects completed, and benefit to be gained by the student from participation in the program. Unit detailsThis exciting program involves travelling to major cities throughout China during the non teaching period in July. Students receive presentations on marketing from senior executives in a number of leading Chinese and international organisations. Students gain credit for one unit (MKF5521 - International study program in marketing - China). Please note that there is another version of this subject run in January, the International Marketing Study Program, which is a program that travels to Europe and America as well as a brief visit to Asia. Students may count only one international study program as part of their degrees. The China study program is a specialist unit which focuses on the marketing environment in China. It comprises a two day study block which is normally held over the weekend immediately before travel commences, and also involves a number of structured visits to leading companies in China, and a 1 day seminar for presentation of research reports later in the year. Assessment covers the learning materials from both Australia and China, a research report, company visits and a presentation. There is no exam. Prior to the program departure all participants will be required to attend a two day study block. At the study block a series of seminars on various aspects of international marketing will be presented, and research projects will be workshopped. Attendance at the study block, and at the research report presentation day later in the year, is compulsory. The Tour Organiser- Manage ChinaThe Chinese Marketing Study Program will be coordinated by Manage China and the contact will be Tim Lyons. Tim is an academic who has taught on many courses and programs at Monash as well as being a director of Manage China. Tim is based in Hangzhou, China. |
