Learning Environment

The Honours Course is an intensive learning environment that offers individualised support to students. The taught units are delivered in small class/workshops and involve participative review of approaches and procedures applicable to research in marketing, including the design and implementation of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. These are delivered in first semester, in block mode on-campus and one unit is taught in block mode the week before semester starts.

The research project offers an opportunity for sustained engagement with a business issue and potential for sustained engagement with a specific organisation. It offers the opportunity to pursue an inquiry within carefully structured guidelines, supervised by a suitably qualified academic. In conjunction with the supervisor's direction, the taught units support the development of a project suitable for implementation. The research project culminates in a substantial research report which is the assessable work for this 24 credit point unit. As part of their final assessment commitments, students will present an overview of their thesis at the Honours Conference.

In addition to the assessable units, students are offered skill development workshops through the Honours Course Induction before Semester 1 begins and, after the Research Proposal has been presented.

Classes may be offered at either the Caulfield or the Clayton campuses. Students will be required to attend classes run during the day in block mode, and outside of undergraduate semester timetable. In semester two, students may be required to attend meetings with the Honours Co-ordinator.
