International Marketing Study Program 2004
L'oreal
19 January 2004
On day 4 of the French leg of our tour, the L'oreal bus arrived bright and early to take us to our L'oreal visit. Our first stop was at factory Aulnay La Barbiere where we received a warm welcome and presentation, followed by a tour of the facilities. From our visit we received a greater understanding of the manufacturing and packaging involved in the broad range of products that make up the L'Oreal family.
From here we were taken to the Clichy headquarters in Paris. We were directed to the auditorium room where 3 presentations were given. Elizabeth Angles d'Auriac, Consumer Division Marketing Manager Africa Orient Pacific zone, spoke to the group about the L'Oreal Global Strategy. An in-depth description was given on the numerous brands under the L'Oreal corporate umbrella as well as their different positioning. A case study was then provided on L'Oreal in India by Mrs Rehana Osmany-Ichou, L'Oreal Paris Marketing Manager Africa Orient Pacific zone, providing valuable insights into the approach L'Oreal took to a large emerging market. Finally the presentation concluded with Beatrice Lazat, HR manager, who spoke about the company's human resource policy. This was especially appealing due to the fast tracking careers and various incentives offered.
The visit concluded with a cocktail lunch provided for the students, where we had the opportunity to have a discussion on a one-to-one basis with each speaker. We would sincerely like to thank L'Oreal for the comprehensive visit and their generous hospitality, we all hope to be employed by such an organisation one day where our work will be challenging and rewarding.
