New Advertising ElectivesExciting news...
Two new communication electives are to be offered at Caulfield Campus. The first unit is Advertising Management MKX3621 in Semester 2 2008, and this will be followed with a second elective at Caulfield Campus in Semester 1 2009; Advertising Campaigns MKX3671. If you love marketing communications and / or are thinking about a career in advertising or brand management (i.e. on the client side), then these electives are for YOU! 1. Advertising Management MKX3621The primary aim of this unit is to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of the issues faced by both the client and the advertising agency in maximising the effectiveness of advertising activity and expenditure. This unit builds on previous studies of marketing communication in which you explored the entire marketing communication mix from a management perspective. Advertising Management focuses on the strategic use of advertising and will provide students with a greater understanding of the advertising process and its management. This is of great relevance and benefit to those students seeking a career in an agency or those who will be involved in advertising decision making from the client's perspective. It will normally be taken in the final year of the degree. Assessment
2. Advertising Campaigns MKX3671
This is unit involves an integrative experience using the advertising theory and processes to which students have been exposed through their course. Students will further study and use campaign planning and management tools. Students create two major advertising campaigns from 'real life' client briefs. Students form 'agency teams' and from each brief, they research the market, then develop a strategy and execution for communications and media. In recent years students have developed campaigns for Honda, Kraft, National Stroke Foundation, Vitasoy, Yoplait and Stihl. This unit will normally be taken in the final year of the degree. These are both really enjoyable electives that give you a taste of the real world, preparing you for a job in the advertising / marketing communication related industries. They provide you with access to industry leaders (agency visits, campaign pitch presentations) and provide a great network opportunity for jobs. They also look good on your CV! There is also a chance to compete for a scholarship to work for a major international agency - including an assignment in an overseas office! Graduates from these units work in major organisations such as: Enrol NOW via WES Or contact Sandra Luxton for more information. |
