Business and Economics at Monash receives international acclaim
Monash University's Faculty of Business and Economics has received international acclaim for its high-quality teaching, research and corporate links, obtaining accreditation by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).
EQUIS is the leading international system of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration.
Institutions that are accredited by EQUIS must demonstrate not only high general quality in all dimensions of their activities, but also a high degree of internationalisation. EQUIS looks for a balance between high academic quality and professional relevance, attaching particular importance to the creation of an effective learning environment that favours the development of students' managerial and entrepreneurial skills, and fosters their sense of global responsibility. It also looks for innovation in all respects, including program design and pedagogy.
The faculty will join a select worldwide group of 84 business schools as an accredited member of this prestigious quality assurance organisation. EQUIS members must have a balance between high academic quality and professional relevance through close interaction with the corporate world.
Monash is the first Business/Commerce faculty in Victoria to receive EQUIS accreditation.
EQUIS Director, Julio Urgel said he is proud to have such a prestigious school amongst its accredited members.
The Dean of Monash's Faculty of Business and Economics, Professor Gill Palmer said the accreditation firmly establishes us internationally as one of the leading higher education institutions in management and business administration.
“Our EQUIS accreditation will bring new students and new possibilities,” Professor Palmer said. “As a member of EQUIS community, the Faculty of Business and Economics will have greater access to university-to-university linkages, leading to more research opportunities.
“Graduates can now be assured they will receive international recognition for their qualification, and in today's global environment this is very important.”
