Leading terror and business continuity management experts have joined forces to conduct a joint research project examining the preparedness of Australian businesses for continuing relationships with international trading partners in a time of terror.
Red Alert – All Clear Pty Ltd, global specialists in business continuity management, have partnered with Monash University's Faculty of Business and Economics and the University of New South Wales to benchmark Australian industry against global competitors, including key trading partners.
The project titled, 'Risk management in a time of terror: Benchmarking Australia's preparedness for business continuity management with key international trading partners' , is the first to examine this area, with research partners seeking a $720,000 Australian Research Council Linkage grant.
A research team, headed by Associate Professor Adela McMurray from Monash's Department of Management will be gathering data from corporate, government, not-for-profit and small-to-medium enterprise organisations world-wide.
Other key members of the research team include Professor Rob Hyndman, Monash's Business and Economics Forecasting Unit director and Dr David Wright-Neville from Monash's School of Political and Social Inquiry who will combine their expertise with that of risk management chair and researcher, Professor Jean Cross from the University of New South Wales.
Associate Professor McMurray says Monash is very excited about its involvement in this landmark research project. “The world's current tumultuous environment has the potential to cause upheaval to Australia's business infrastructure and economic stability,” she said.
“Our intention is to identify software and methodology which can be used to minimise the risk to business continuity during a time of uncertainty. By doing so, we hope to ensure the sustainability of Australian businesses,” she said. “Through proper corporate governance, organisations will be able to ensure legal and social responsibilities are met, even during disasters.”
To celebrate its newly established relationship with Monash, the directors of Red Alert - All Clear Pty Ltd held a cocktail party. At the event, Red Alert – All Clear welcomed the project's stakeholders including the Monash research team, the company's board of advisors, its channel partners, senior executives, senior consultants and technical advisors.
