Accounting and Finance signed MoU with Centre in Hanoi

The Department of Accounting and Finance recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Securities Research and Training Centre (SRTC) in Hanoi under which they will collaborate in providing professional executive training programs in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

It builds on an existing relationship which is focused on delivering executive training programs to Vietnam’s securities and financial markets and enables a channel for information and data exchange between the two parties.

Securities Research and Training Director Dao Lê Minh hailed the MoU at the signing ceremony as a milestone in the development of the centre that will boost its capacity and the process of reaching regional and international standards.

He urged the SRTC to view its mission to improve its educational programs as a political task and to pay greater attention to socialising securities training.

Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Professor Kim Langfield-Smith, said at the ceremony, “We have been very fortunate to have had a number of Ausaid students from Vietnam studying finance at Monash, including doctoral and masters programs. Three years ago we started to work with past and current students to explore opportunities for collaborative research and executive training in Vietnam, across the developing finance industry”.

Australian Educational International (AEI) Hanoi Counsellor (Education, Science and Training), Ms Bettina Cooke, who also attended the ceremony on behalf of the Australian Embassy remarked “Monash University is one of Australia’s leading universities and has a long relationship with Vietnam in education and training, especially through the Australian Scholarships program. The cooperation between Monash University and SRTC is another exciting step in the Australian-Vietnam education relationship.”

The new MOU with the SRTC builds on an existing MOU that was signed in early 2006 by the Department of Accounting and Finance and the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
